The bible is a special gift from God to mankind. God, the eternal, infallible creator of the universe has spoken to us through His word the truth, what a privilege! Every scientific examination of the bible only serves to substantiate more firmly its unerring accuracy. Being God's word it has authority and must be treated with respect and accurately handled.

The bible is not the word of men but the Word of God

And for this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received the from us the word of God's message, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe. (1Thess 2:13)

Those who wrote the bible were inspired by God. They wrote his words, not their own. God is the author of the bible:

"All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

The word of God is sufficient to equip us. We do not need any teachings that are outside the bible. Scripture alone. This is called 'Sola Scriptura'. The bible is the authority. God speaks through His word and it is complete. Therefore everything must be checked against the word. If someone says they have received a revelation from an angel, it should be checked against the word. Anything that contradicts God's word is false.

But even though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we have preached to you, let him be accursed

Again, the bible does not contradict itself, all teachings from the bible should not contradict other bibles verses. God's Word is not open to interpretation, the bible interprets the bible.

"But know this first of all, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. (2 Peter 1:20-21)

Over the centuries, many books have come and gone. Consider this, the bible hasn't changed in 2,000 years! Jesus said:

(Matthew 24:35) "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words shall never pass away"

It is very important to devote a portion of your daily time to the bible. Consider the temptation of Jesus (Matthew 4, Luke 4), Jesus used scripture to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

God's word is alive!

"For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart." (Heb 4:12)

God's word is life!

"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life." (John 6:63)

Amazing bible facts

It is He who sits above the sphere of the earth (Isaiah 40:22)

This verse was written by the prophet Isaiah some 2700 years ago. At that time, the earth was thought to be flat. So it begs the question, who told Isaiah that the earth was a sphere?

Then the Lord said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may come back over the egyptians, over their chariots and their horsemen."

So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal state at daybreak, while the Eqyptians were fleeing right into it; the the Lord overthrew the egyptians in the midst of the sea. (Exodus 14:26-27)

Did you know that scuba divers went to the bottom of the Red Sea and found the remains of ancient war chariots. The only explanation for these chariots being there is the biblical account.

Then the Lord rained on Sodom & Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven (Isaiah 40:22)

The remains and unnatural formations of these cities have been discovered. Around those remains there are many bits of well aged brimstone and flammable sulfur.

In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the flood gates of the sky were opened. (Genesis 7:11)

Genesis chapters 6 & 7 document the monumentous flood that covered the earth for forty days and forty nights. Everything that was not in the ark was totally destroyed. Using the genealogies of the bible we can work out that the flood happened 4,400 years ago...
